Google today uncovered a new project the company is pursuing called Native Client that "make it possible to build applications that run in a web browser but incorporate native code modules," according to a post on the company code blog.
The project, though still in the early stage, promises to let Web-based programs access far more computational power on computers than they do now.
This is probably Google's answer to Adobe's Flash, Sun's Java/JavaFX, Microsoft's SilverLight and even to Windows as ...

According to the tests conducted by engineers at Sandia National Laboratories, New Mexico, who have simulated future high-performance computers containing the 8-core, 16‑core, and 32-core microprocessors, it appears that after 8 cores put to process the more cores added the worse applications perform especially bad for data-intensive apps.
As the chart below shows, while keep adding more cores to the tests the memory bandwidth remains flat, and that is the cause of the trouble.

The band named The Scorpions have used several contentious album covers and are perhaps best known for their song, "Rock You Like a Hurricane".

[CNET] -- In a development announced in the journal Nature Photonics, Intel is claiming "world record" performance in optical communications using silicon photonics -- based photo dectors are used to send and receive optical information, especially in very high-bandwidth applications like supercomputers. Intel says silicon photonics is essential for "ultra-fast transfer of data (in) future computers powered by many processor cores."
The development is noticeable because it is based on silicon -- a readily available, low-cost material used in semicondutor chips ...
